Building Web Site on the Street

  Update and maintain a website

Have you ever been to a website that has old information on it?  You read something on their home page about LAST YEAR'S events and you think, "this site is worthless."

Unfortunately, many non-profits rely on volunteers for their web site work and they almost never get a quality, well-maintained site.  So, potential donors will get to their site and find that the information on there is not current, it is laid out poorly, or the design and content are not compelling to lead them to help that organization.  It would be better to not have a site than to put one out in public that is really poor.

You should update and maintain a website like you would your email. You would not get an email from a potential donor and then just ignore it would you? Well, many potential donors go to your website and when they don't see up-to-date information, they may think that you have abandoned the site.

I can't tell you the number of abandoned sites out there, but I know that there are tens of thousands of them.  Is your site one of them?  Does it have information on it that is out dated or no longer valid?

Bringing your site up to date

Lots of sites on the web were designed in an old format.  Today, sites can be dynamic and offer special features like RSS feeds to keep your donor base informed.  Sites that have not kept up with the current web trends have fallen off of the radar in a sense.  If a site is not updated, interesting or offering something new to the web, then many of the search engines and readers will simply not go back.  You have to keep it interesting.

Video, photos, events, journals, newsletters and other features can keep your donor base visiting over and over.  Having repeat visitors means that your donor base feels that they are a part of your organization and will keep supporting your organization.

Some of the organizations I work with report increases of 150% and higher in their donations due to a well designed site. Still others who offer conferences report attendance being up by huge amounts. The ability of the web to help you do your job of gaining and keeping donors is unparalleled.

Working with non-profit organizations

I work with non-profit organizations on an extremely discounted rate because I want to give something back.  Too often, I have seen non-profit organizations rely on volunteer webmasters to update their websites and more often than not, it doesn't work very well.

Basic pricing:

  • Redesign a current website with up to 20 pages:  I can redesign most websites for non-profits organizations for $600.00.  This will bring your site up to date and make it really nice.  I will also include hosting the site for the first year in that price saving you from $60-100.
  • Maintain a website:  I can maintain your website for you for $600 annually.  This will include unlimited page additions and changes.  (site redesign not included.)  If you choose to redesign and maintain your site with me I will give you a discount for both services.  The price will be $1,000 for the first year and $600 for each year after that.

Many of my non-profit clients report my services as one of the best decisions that they have made. Organization wide, they become better organized and informed and their donors report being very excited about the changes.
